Goddess 2000 plus-size sports bra

This Goddess 2000 plus-size sports bra looks promising. I haven’t tried it yet, but it looks to be similar in design to the heavy duty Enell (Oprah) sports bra, the Enell “Lite” sports bra and the Activa zip-front plus-size sports bra model ATV107.

And the good news is the price: although full price for the Goddess 2000 plus-size sports bra is $48, you can find it online for as low as $28.

Have you tried this bra? If so, please leave a comment below and tell us what you think of it.

Do Sports Bras Harm Your Respiratory Tract? | Negative Effect on Breathing?

Filed under: Plus Size Bras, Plus Size Clothing Advice — Tags: — Barbra @ 7:42 pm

I was extolling the virtues of plus size sports bras (yes, plural… I wear both the Activa Zip Front and the Enell) to a friend the other day. I said I don’t care if they give me the “uni-boob” look – I love the comfort and support.
She looked skeptical, saying that she’d heard that tight fitting sports bras can harm your respiratory tract.
Hmmm…that didn’t sound good. I did some research and found out that in 2005 the American College of Sports Medicine’s scholarly journal published an article on just this issue – the threat of sports bras on respiratory function.
The study determined that the sports bra “imparted significantly more pressure on smaller breasted females’ torsos when compared with the fashion brassiere, although this increased pressure did not appear to significantly affect measured lung volumes or brassiere comfort scores. They concluded that wearing a sports bra during does not harm your respiratory tract. In fact, their research indicates that wearing a sports bra during activity is beneficial to reduce breast motion and its related pain.

Activa Zip-Front Plus-Size Sports Bra (ATV107) | Bargain Lycra Bra

activa-bra-front.jpgThis Activa Ultratek Zip-Front Sports Bra model ATV107 is a real find. In my comparison tests, it offers all the comfort and support of the well-known Enell sports bra (the “Oprah sports bra”) at just over half the price. I’m always on the lookout for anything that is plus size, cheap and good quality so this fits the bill.

The Activa Zip Front Bra costs about $38, while the Enell sports bra is about $60. From my comparison tests, the bras are very similar so why pay twice as much? These three photos show wearing the Activa Ultratek Zip-Front Sports Bra in size E, which covers sizes 40DDD, 42D-42DD, 44D. I was pleased to find it fit true to size – I wear a 40DDD and the Activa size E fit me comfortably.
(Like the Enell sports bra, the Activa sports bra does not come in specific band/cup sizes. Rather, they come in sizes 1 – 8 and A – F respectively.)
activa-bra-back.jpg As you can see, the zip-front, molded cup bra has real hold. It covers my back well, which I find very important for comfort (the more coverage across my back the less weight pulling on my shoulders).
The bra is constructed of Supplex/Lycra® – which to me feels like a firm, soft cotton. Apparently it has moisture wicking properties as well. Come to think of it, the last time I wore this bra was a blazing hot day and I didn’t have the sweating under my breasts that I usually get.
activa-bra-side.jpgOne interesting design feature is the three inside hook closures (one at the top and two at the bottom) that provide a back-up to the zipper. The hooks are easy to do up – in fact, often I’ll just zip up the bra and find that the hooks just automatically hook themselves.
The Activa Ultratek Zip-Front Sports Bra comes in these sizes:
A: 32DDD, 34C-34D, 36C
B: 34D-34DDD, 36D-36DD
C: 36DDD, 38C, 38D, 40C
D: 38DD-38DDD, 40D-40DD
E: 40DDD, 42D-42DD, 44D
F: 42DDD, 44D-44DDD, 46D
Note: Although the Activa Sports Bra was a complimentary sample provided at my request by the manufacturer, my review is an unbiased appraisal.
