Bravado Supreme Nursing Bra | Lightweight Soft Cup Breast Feeding Bra

bravado-nursing-bra.jpgThe Bravado Supreme Nursing Bra is especially designed for fuller-breasted women. According to the nursing moms I’ve spoken to, it feels good all day long. And as we know, that’s the supreme test of a good bra. Apparently it provides good support and lift without using underwire.
Features include:
• Lightweight embossed fabric that feels silky to the touch
• Soft cup design that provides support without constricting underwire to ensure on-going good breast health
• Wide cushioned straps to distribute weight without digging into shoulders
• Easy to open and close nursing clips
• Pretty key-hole detail opens with nursing clip to provide full access to breast for easier feeding
• Back band closure, with 4 adjusting rows of hooks and eyes

MySpace About Me: Do You Put a Photo?

Filed under: Plus Size Clothing Advice — Barbra @ 11:07 am

A reader wrote to me today and asked an interesting question: if you’re a busty woman is it a good idea or a bad idea to put a picture of yourself that shows off your boobs in your MySpace About Me section?
Hmm…I guess it would depend on what you want your MySpace About Me to achieve. I googled this and came up with a website that is (believe it or not) completely devoted to how to write your MySpace About Me section. Here’s part of what they said on the topic:

Think about the purpose of your MySpace page. Is it to promote your band or your business? If so, write a MySpace About Me section that focuses on your band or your business. If it’s to connect with your friends and make new MySpace friends, then write about stuff that you’d like to share with friends.

So regarding a photo that shows off your assets, I would repeat what MySpace About Me says “think about the purpose of your MySpace page”. And then you’re on your own!

Goddess Smooth Underwire Longline Bra | Plus-Size Strapless Bra Recommendation

Filed under: Goddess, Plus Size Bras, Reviews — Tags: , — Barbra @ 3:29 pm

goddess-longline-strapless.jpgThis is the strapless bra that is most often recommended for plus size women – the Goddess Smooth Underwire Longline Bra.
Not sure about the longline vs a standard strapless plus size bra? Think about it: the firmer the foundation under your breasts, the more support they’ll have.
This strapless plus size bra can also be converted to a plus size halter bra with the included convertible straps.

Activa Zip-Front Plus-Size Sports Bra (ATV107) | Bargain Lycra Bra

activa-bra-front.jpgThis Activa Ultratek Zip-Front Sports Bra model ATV107 is a real find. In my comparison tests, it offers all the comfort and support of the well-known Enell sports bra (the “Oprah sports bra”) at just over half the price. I’m always on the lookout for anything that is plus size, cheap and good quality so this fits the bill.

The Activa Zip Front Bra costs about $38, while the Enell sports bra is about $60. From my comparison tests, the bras are very similar so why pay twice as much? These three photos show wearing the Activa Ultratek Zip-Front Sports Bra in size E, which covers sizes 40DDD, 42D-42DD, 44D. I was pleased to find it fit true to size – I wear a 40DDD and the Activa size E fit me comfortably.
(Like the Enell sports bra, the Activa sports bra does not come in specific band/cup sizes. Rather, they come in sizes 1 – 8 and A – F respectively.)
activa-bra-back.jpg As you can see, the zip-front, molded cup bra has real hold. It covers my back well, which I find very important for comfort (the more coverage across my back the less weight pulling on my shoulders).
The bra is constructed of Supplex/Lycra® – which to me feels like a firm, soft cotton. Apparently it has moisture wicking properties as well. Come to think of it, the last time I wore this bra was a blazing hot day and I didn’t have the sweating under my breasts that I usually get.
activa-bra-side.jpgOne interesting design feature is the three inside hook closures (one at the top and two at the bottom) that provide a back-up to the zipper. The hooks are easy to do up – in fact, often I’ll just zip up the bra and find that the hooks just automatically hook themselves.
The Activa Ultratek Zip-Front Sports Bra comes in these sizes:
A: 32DDD, 34C-34D, 36C
B: 34D-34DDD, 36D-36DD
C: 36DDD, 38C, 38D, 40C
D: 38DD-38DDD, 40D-40DD
E: 40DDD, 42D-42DD, 44D
F: 42DDD, 44D-44DDD, 46D
Note: Although the Activa Sports Bra was a complimentary sample provided at my request by the manufacturer, my review is an unbiased appraisal.

Belts Flatter Large-Busted Women | Define Shape & Sexy Curves

Filed under: Plus Size Clothing Advice — Tags: — Barbra @ 1:04 am

torrid-dress.jpg When you have large breasts, there’s a tendency to shy away from belted dresses. After all, isn’t it more flattering to wear loose styles?

torrid-dress3.jpg Absolutely not! A large breasted woman wearing a loose fitted dress with no defined waist will look larger than she actually is.

Don’t believe me? Picture throwing a blanket over a dining room chair. All you see is a vague form under a tent-like shape. You can’t see that the chair actually has a nice shape under all that fabric.
torrid-dress2.jpgSo don’t be afraid to outline your curves by wearing a belt.

Here are some examples of plus size, cheap dresses from Torrid (all costing around $50) that look great on plus-size women. Notice that they all have a belt to define the waist!

Jane Russell’s Cone Bra | The Truth About the First Push-Up Bra

Filed under: Plus Size Bras, Plus Size Clothing Advice — Tags: — Barbra @ 12:40 am

jane-russell.jpgThe struggle to buttress what is naturally low-lying has produced its own mythology. When filming his movie “The Outlaws” it was widely reported that the well known recluse, Howard Hughes, used burgeoning airplane technology to design the “cone bra” — the perfect support to give star Jane Russell those amazingly pointy breasts.

However, this myth was dispelled by Miss Russell herself in her 1985 autobiography, where she wrote that the “ridiculous” contraption caused her so much discomfort, she secretly shucked it for her own bra and after tightening the shoulder straps slipped back onto the set and filmed the remainder of the movie without it.

Still the myth persisted and that so-called first push-up bra is still on display in a Hollywood museum. So just how busty was Jane Russel? According to Wikipedia,

…Russell personified the sensuously contoured sweater girl look… with measurements of 38D-24-36… Besides the thousands of quips from radio comedians, including Bob Hope once introducing her as “the two and only Jane Russell,” the photo of her on a haystack glowering with sulking beauty and youthful sensuality as her breasts push forcefully against her bodice was a popular pin-up with Service men during World War II.
